Software their 3D department use:
- Zbrush
- Unreal engine (this is free)
- Substance Painter
- Photoshop
- Maya
Portfolio advice:
- Portfolio should be 80% of what they're looking for, they will teach you 20% lacking of
- Show concept art with finished visual - show you can follow designs given
- Research artists from studios you want to apply to & find their graduate showreel online, this is the type of work that studio would expect
- Showreel = 1min30secs MAX. & no music (will be muted or distracting)
- Portfolio = white background, large & clear rendered images, labelled with description of you're role if it's a group project
Interview Questions:
- Skill specific questions, what software you know, level of experience. Will ask how you would achieve what they ask you for & workflow technique.
- Why you want that role
- Your hopes for progression in the job/studio
- Know about their studio, success, artists, what inspired you
- Will be asks about you/personality to fit the studio
- Teamworking & how you would fit into a team or lead it
